Love the One You're In
It doesn’t matter what your body shape is.
But it does matter how you think about it.
Somewhere along the way, many of us learned to see our bodies as problems to fix instead of gifts to appreciate. But here’s the truth: there is no perfect shape.
Your body is not a problem to be solved; it is a vessel to be loved.
We’re spiritual beings living in a physical world—what Kim Nowlin, Style by Color Studio Facebook Group facilitator and workshop instructor, likes to call our “earth bodysuits". And while we live in them every day, they were never meant to define our worth. We were fashioned by God, each of us reflecting His beauty in a completely unique way.
Yet, so often, it’s not what God says about us that sticks—it’s what someone else said years ago.
A comment.
A comparison.
A moment we’ve replayed over and over again.
Those words settle in, and before we know it, they begin shaping how we show up in the world. They chip away at our confidence and quietly hold us back...from stepping into our personal style, and even from walking fully in the calling God has placed on our lives.
But, we don’t have to stay there. We can choose to start seeing ourselves the way God sees us. Though our bodies may be in a constant state of change, even winding down over time, that is not what defines who we are. Our confidence was never meant to come from a number, a size, or a shape; it comes from who we are in Christ.
And sometimes? It’s not even the body that’s the issue. It’s the clothes. Not every trend is meant for you and that’s okay. Some styles will work beautifully for your body, and others simply won’t. When something doesn’t fit or flatter, it’s not a failure—it’s feedback. Move on. Try something else. Or consider tailoring to make a piece work for you, not against you.
And while you’re at it, skip the slouchy, pieces you can hide in. Find something in your closet that makes you feel amazing! Your body deserves that.
